It all started the day after the Fourth of July. While most people were recovering from fireworks and BBQ, we were unknowingly about to meet the love of our lives. We crossed paths at a bar, just a casual summer night that turned into something unforgettable. A simple conversation about our Jeeps (yes, that’s really how it started!) quickly turned into laughter, easy conversation, and the feeling that something special was beginning. From that night on, what started as a spark over shared adventures on four wheels grew into the greatest adventure of all—us. For guests who would like to stay close to the wedding venue, Hampton Inn Paramus may be a convenient option. The hotel is located approximately 8–12 minutes from The Terrace/Biagio’s in Paramus and approximately 35–55 minutes from Jersey City, depending on traffic. Please note that we do not have a formal hotel room block, so guests are welcome to book whichever hotel best fits their travel plans and preferences. We recommend booking early, as availability and rates may vary.

For guests who would like to stay between Paramus and Jersey City, the Meadowlands/East Rutherford area may be a convenient option. This area is approximately 15–25 minutes from our venue in Paramus and approximately 25–35 minutes from Jersey City, depending on traffic.

The Maticoor is a traditional Indo-Guyanese Hindu pre-wedding ceremony held separately at the bride’s and groom’s family homes. It marks the formal beginning of the wedding rituals and includes prayers, the symbolic gathering of earth, and the application of saffron or turmeric to bless and purify the bride and groom before the wedding. The evening is also filled with music, dancing, food, and celebration with family and friends. What should I wear?- Wear something bright, colorful, festive, and comfortable. Avoid black. Yellow and orange are popular colors!- Women may wear a lehenga, salwar suit, kurta set, or colorful dress.- Men may wear a kurta or a colorful button-down shirt with dress pants.- Since the events are outdoors, choose shoes that are comfortable for grass and dancing.- Please keep in mind that turmeric may be used during the ceremony, so avoid wearing anything that you would be upset about accidentally staining.Food and Beverage Considerations:- This is a vegetarian and alcohol-free event.- Traditional Indian and Guyanese food will be served.- Please do not bring or consume alcohol at either family’s home.- We kindly ask that everyone respect the religious and cultural significance of the evening.Why It Matters - It officially begins the traditional wedding rituals.- It allows each family to bless and celebrate the bride and groom at their respective homes.- The ceremony honors family, tradition, Mother Earth, and the couple’s transition into married life.- It is one of the first major moments of the wedding weekend and sets the celebratory tone for the events aheadWhat Happens?- Traditional prayers and blessings- The symbolic “dig dutty” or gathering of earth- Saffron or turmeric ceremony for the bride and groom- Traditional singing, tassa music, and dancing- Food, music, and an open dance floor- Separate celebrations at the bride’s and groom’s family homes
